ABOUT US
Mission
Phi Gamma Delta unites men in enduring friendships, stimulates the pursuit of knowledge, and builds courageous leaders who serve the world with the best that is in them.
Vision
To be an active, vital force of men who courageously live our values and make a positive impact on college and community.
OUR HISTORY
The Alpha Omicron chapter of Phi Gamma Delta was chartered on September 27, 1986. Forty-seven men guided by Louis A. “Bud” Mangles (Indiana ’56) began an ambitious Delta Colony. As a colony, AO was distinguished as the leading Fraternity at the University of Akron when it received the Dean’s Cup in 1987. The chapter has been awarded the Dean’s Cup sixteen times. After only four years as a chapter, AO was awarded Phi Gamma Delta’s most prestigious award on August 13, 1990: The Cheney Cup, for overall chapter excellence. AO holds the record for being the youngest chapter to receive this distinction in the history of FIJI. In 2018, AO was awarded the Owen Cup for greatest improvement in scholarship over the previous year and
was runner-up for the Condon Cup for greatest overall improvement.
